A Few Pounds Lighter!
Well, it's done! I had my surgery last week and I no longer have a gigantic cyst growing on my spleen. It was probably the scariest thing I have ever done. Even more so then labor. (You are awake during labor.) I was shaking so hard when we got there. It was almost like I was shivering. The good news is that I only passed out once! If you know me, then you understand that this is pretty good. I warned them that they better give me a sedative before the IV, but they didn't believe me. After I got the IV and was revived, things went smoothly. The best part about it is that they were able to preserve the spleen! That was always the hope, but you never know what will happen once they open you up! Also, they were able to do it entirely laproscopically. Meaning, no large cuts! Yippee! I have 5 - 1/2" stab marks on my belly. There were actually only suppose to be three, but apparently this "thing" was so big that they actually had to go in on the right side of my stomach as well to get the liver out of the way. All in all, I am truly blessed. I was only in the hospital for 3 days instead of the 4 that was planned for. I has been fairly pain free! (I have no problem taking pain medicine on schedule. Hehe.) I am still sleeping most of the day like a newborn, but I guess that is just part of the recovery process...or because of the pain medicine. Brian has been great and has taken on the responsibilities here at home. My kids are going to be very sad when they are stuck with me again. Thanks for all of your prayers and help. I appreciate it all!

So glad to hear that everything went well! I was just thinking the other day about you and wondering if you had this procedure done yet. Let me know if I can do anything for you or your family! :)
I am so glad everything went well, that was a scary thing you had to go through!! Can't wait to see you soon!!
Glad things went well. Get the rest while you can! Looking forward to seeing you soon.
I'm glad things went well!
I am glad everything went well and they were able to do your surgery laproscopically. I had one a few years ago to remove some endomitriosis and biopsy a tumor and the recovery was really quick.
I am so glad that things went well. I have been out of town...so sorry that I was no help.
That is great that they were able to keep the spleen.
