A Day in the Life of a Mom!

So...where to begin? Let's just start with first thing this morning...
Brian and I both wake up to Gavin crying and Emily yelling that she needs dad to "snap" a "wingner" (earwig). So, after taking care of the earwig situation, Brian realizes that Gavin is soaked head to toe. He had filled his diaper beyond its capacity and soaked himself and his bed in the process.
The rest of the morning was fairly uneventful until after I dropped Emily off at preschool. I needed to run a quick errand to Walmart. Gavin has reached the age where he can get out of the cart, but he can't walk beside me because he just runs away. So, I bring suckers in my purse to "persuade" him into the cart. I get there....no suckers. So, while Gavin is screaming in the cart, I run to the back of the store and get a package of suckers, open it, and hand one to him. Everyone on the isle is looking at me and probably thinking, "She is just reinforcing a bad behavior." Yes, I am well aware. All is well again and I go about my shopping. It just so happens that he finishes his sucker right as we are about to leave. He notices a package of cookies in the cart and starts screaming again. (For the record, this is not like him and I am not normally one to give in.) So, I get to the check out and he is hysterical, so yes, I opened the cookies and gave him one. I already know...bad, bad. Of course, to top it off, my credit card magnet strip was worn out so they had to punch it in by hand. No quick checkout for me. Yeah, I was a little flustered.

We get home and Gavin is still just as whiny as ever. He insists on watching TV. We don't normally watch TV while Emily is at school. He normally enjoys the time just playing in his room. This is when I start to wonder if he is feeling alright because he just doesn't normally act this way. So, I try and talk him into playing in his room. I even went in there with him and started playing. He goes into a complete meltdown again. This time I was not giving up. After a little while he started wheezing and coughing. The cough soon turned to a bark. He was so upset that he had actually caused himself to have asthma. The only way to calm him down is to put on a movie, rock him, and give him a breathing treatment. So, yet again, he got his way. By the end of the movie he had about 5 more cookies. As you can see, I had given up.

Oh no, it is not over yet...
We go and pick up Emily from preschool. When we get home I usually put Gavin down for his nap. After he had been in there for about an hour, he was still AWAKE. It was now too late for a nap, so I got him up. He actually did pretty good considering he didn't have a nap.

It gets better...
Then came bath time. I put Gavin in the tub. Emily was in there watching him so that I could change my clothes. All of a sudden she comes running in laughing and tell me urgently, "You have to come and see what is in the tub." I will give you one guess....poop. Not just a little. No, A LOT. Not only that, he had a spoon and was scooping it up. Then, I hear Emily behind me start to cough and I look back and she is actually dry heaving. Seeing Gavin playing in his poop was just a little too much for her.

Needless to say... my kids went to bed at 6:30 pm. Emily was an angel today. As for Gavin and I... let's just say that tomorrow is another day! :)

hahahah! Thank you so much for the laugh! :) It is nice to know that we all have days where you just can't make this kind of stuff up, and that I'm not the only one who "gives in" somedays just to save my sanity! ;)

Ah, you captured all of the glamour perfectly. :)

When did you eat the bon bons? ;)

The spooning of the poop sounds like something that would happen here.
